History
Baker & McKenzie has been active in Ukraine since
1992. Not only was Baker & McKenzie the first foreign law firm
to open an office in Ukraine, but it continues to have the largest presence
in Ukraine of any foreign law firm. While the number of other law
firms in Ukraine is growing, Baker & McKenzie maintains one of the
largest offices of all international law firms in Ukraine. Baker
& McKenzie is the first foreign law firm in Kyiv to register a local
legal entity which is fully licensed to practise law in Ukraine.
Type of Services Provided
Baker & McKenzie, Kyiv works mainly in the area of
foreign investment, providing a full range of legal services for multinational
clients. The legal expertise of our lawyers includes negotiating
joint venture agreements, corporate acquisitions, secured and unsecured
financings of Ukrainian entities, equity investments and trading, privatization,
intellectual property, including trademark and license agreement registrations,
the formation and registration of foreign subsidiaries and representative
offices, and tax advice. Baker & McKenzie, Kyiv has been actively involved
in various public and private sector financing projects in Ukraine, trade
financing projects, secured financings, and loan facilitation programs.
Although Baker & McKenzie, Kyiv has traditionally advised foreign investors,
including manufacturers, distributors, investment funds, governmental or
quasi-governmental lending agencies, and financial institutions, we are
increasing our representation of reputable Ukrainian-based entities involved
in banking and finance.

Staff
The professional staff of the Kiev office presently consists
of two international partners, Borys Dackiw and David Scott, two local
partners, Alexander Martinenko and Serhiy Chorny and ten associates, including,
Francois-Ihor Mazur, Keenan Hohol, Serhiy Piontkovsky, Ihor Nazartchouk,
Volodymyr Goutsaliouk, Mariana Marchuk, Vadym Vasko, Mykhailo Tymoshenko,
Vyacheslav Petrashenko and Irina Nagayets.
Almost all of our Ukrainian associates have had
training in England or the United States through internships with western
law firms and studies of master of law degree programs at major universities.
The staff is fluent in English, Ukrainian and Russian, with French and
Polish also spoken. Support personnel include three paralegals, four
translators/interpreters, administrative assistants, an information technology
manager, and a full-time librarian.

JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Billing Clerk
REPORTS TO: Partners, Finance Director, & Chief Accountant

Position Description
The purpose of this position is to perform billing for clients on a
monthly basis and assist the Finance Director with the organization
and
operation of an efficient billing and collections operation.
- Draft and translate monthly bills for clients using the Baker &
McKenzie standard format.
- Calculate the amount of the invoice including taxes
- Draft the required accompanying documentation such as the agreement
for services, act of acceptance, etc.
- Maintain an up to date database of all clients for the purposes of
billing.
- Coordinate with the Chief Accountant concerning all billing
activities with particular attention to VAT rules.
- Maintain all billing files.
- Prepare monthly reports regarding the status of each invoice.
- Assist the Finance Director and chief account with the preparation
of
required monthly accounts and reports, collections, etc.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
- Strong communication skills both written and oral in English and
Ukrainian.
- Good mathematical, accounting, and analytical skills.
- Competent typing skills and the ability to operate standard office
equipment such as computer, telephone, calculator, and photocopier.
- Familiarity with MSWord and MSExcel.
- Ability to translate well documents from English into Ukrainian.
- Knowledge of Ukrainian and Western accounting.
Minimum Education and Experience
- University degree with a major in economics, finance, or accounting
and work experience as an accountant or in a finance related position,
utilizing either western or Ukrainian accounting procedures.
